ALL ACCUSED ARRESTED AFTER IVAC EFFORTS; HOPE JUSTICE PREVAILS
After a sustained effort by International Victims Action Center (IVAC) and with key assistance from the local law firm Dhingra & Singh – Attorneys at Law (www.dslegal.com) in Delhi (India), Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DLSA), for the first time, framed a policy for financial help and reimbursement of travel and other expenses to the victims of crime in Delhi.
After a US citizen was gang raped in April 2016 in Delhi (India), IVAC began working closely with the victim and the local law firm and got all the accused arrested in December 2016.
This financial policy will benefit any victim of sex crime in India who are from the US or anywhere else. “Many times, when an American traveling abroad gets harmed, there is little recourse and little, if any, action taken. That's because there are frequent language barriers and communication difficulties. Sadly, it's also routinely difficult to get the appropriate timely aide from the corresponding U.S. Consulate Office," IVAC's director, Nathalie Neville said.
Nathalie said that many well-meaning federal officials simply lack the training and ability to adequately assist victims of crimes that happen overseas, particularly sexual assaults.
